On the eve of the Boston Marathon, we at Spartan Race, along with the country, pay tribute to all the victims and survivors of last year’s attack.
Pictured are athletes and citizens who lived through the events and won’t let tragedy grind them to a halt. This series shot by Robert X. Fogerty for Dear World captures the resilience of those affected that can’t be dampened. Please visit their site to learn more about these people’s stories and pay tribute.

Boston is as strong as community as the world has. We are proud to be part of it. On Marathon Monday, we will be there and along with the rest of the world, we will be watching a city recover as one.

Took about 15 months to get to 1,000 miles. Goal 2,000 miles by the end of the year.

Winter - not great for my health….

I was worried last fall that when winter came I would go back to all my old habits and loose what I had achieved over the summer.  Well officially - it happened.

I took my measurements today and my weight is .1 pound from where I started, my body fat% is .9 percentage points higher and I gained as much as I lost in inches over the 5 1/2 months.  Interestingly - in different spots.  My pain level is probably higher that it has been in years - including back spasms this week.

So it is time to reset, get back into moving and eating well.  It is time to look at why I started writing the blog and why this is important to me and commit to change.

Hopefully - the snow storm that is coming yet this week will be the last one.  I am soooo done with winter.

Map of the World by Natural Skin Color

i’m really dumbfounded that i never realized skin colour is literally just caused by being closer to or farther from the equator and the resulting sun exposure and skin darkening

actually, its an adaptation. natural selection. people with darker skin are selected for in areas near the equator, where the melanin that causes the darker color protects them from radiation and protects them from skin cancer and other health defects, and because they are healthier they can pass on that trait more. people near the poles have lighter skin because it allows them absorb more of the limited sunlight to convert to vitamin d.

The “Reflection” series of older people looking at their younger selves in mirrors.

This is so beautiful

I literally always have to reblog this.

Haven’t done that before. Hit my step goal on the nose.
